kindleIf you’ve taken the plunge into the realm of ink-less reading , chances are you’ve come across Amazon.com’s line-up of e-reader devices. Although once dominant in the e-reader market, the Kindle family is beginning to see some stiff competition (take note of the Barnes&Noble Nook). To stay fresh and at the forefront, Amazon has announced the upcoming Kindle reader for your PC, and soon thereafter for the Mac. What does this mean for current and future Kindle owners? As Cnet.com reports, the list of features includes:

  • Purchase, download, and read hundreds of thousands of books available in the Kindle Store
  • Access your entire library of previously purchased Kindle books stored on Amazon’s servers for free
  • Choose from over 10 different font sizes and adjust words per line
  • View notes and highlights marked on Kindle and Kindle DX
  • Zoom in and out of text with a pinch of the fingers (Windows 7 users only)
  • Turn pages with a finger swipe (available in a future release for Windows 7 users)

For many, reading from a computer screen is not the best way to enjoy a good book. But if you’ve already made the leap to e-readers, Amazon’s plans for a PC version of the kindle reader may just keep you keep hanging in there.
